My Top 10 Mountain Walks include walks to the tops of summits of around 3,000 feet or more and include walks at high altitude in mountainous areas

1 Beinn Dhubh

The summit of Beinn Dhubh is probably the best viewpoint on the Isle of Harris and gave us some of the best views we've ever seen. The return section along the beach of Traigh Rosamol was the climax to an incredilbe walk

2 Justadtind

A thrilling walk to the summit of Justadtind,from which we enjoyed a magnificent panorama of countless mountains, lakes, islands and the sea, including mainland Norway in the far distance

3 Tre Cime

The Tre Cime di Lavaredo is probably the best known mountain group in the Dolomites, and a circuit of the group makes for a magnificent outing

4 Schlick

From the top of the Schlick cable car, a descent of 2,500 feet with sensational views of an array of peaks over 8,000 feet high making up the Stubai mountain massif

5 Ceapabhal

Ceapabhal has one of the best viewpoints in the Outer Hebrides and this walk was made even more memorable by the sighting of a pair of golden eagles in the skies above the summit

6 Männlichen

A memorable walk from Männlichen to Alpiglen, when the clouds parted to reveal some wonderful views, including the Wetterhorn, Rosenhorn and the Eiger

7 Goatfell

Awe inspiring views over the peaks and ridges of Arran from the summit of Goatfell
