Our granddaughter Phoebe was staying with us and when it finally stopped raining we decided to go for a local walk with her. The fact that she can’t walk yet was no hindrance, as can be seen from the photos
We left the house and walked up the lane towards Miller Place, turning uphill just before the farm to join the elevated path which runs along Lorton Vale and back above the house
Shortly before High Swinside we joined the narrow gated road – this is the place to start for anyone else following this short walk. We walked through Hopebeck (population about 6) and back along the lane to our house
I’m looking forward to climbing a fell with Phoebe one day, but she’ll have to get up there under her own steam
As we waited for the weather to improve, we were entertained by a red squirrel in the garden

The weather is improving so we get ready for a walk
