Weather: Cloudy and warm

We’ve visited Newby Hall and its award winning gardens many times over the years, but not recently, and it was high time we renewed our acquaintance. There are numerous attractions here for all ages – in our case we wanted to see how the gardens were developing. Having entered the grounds we made a beeline for the double herbaceous border, one of the longest in the country. We have vivid memories of this spectacular feature and had read that the planting scheme had been completely overhauled in the last few years. Would it still live up to our expectations? The photos below answer that question

We then wandered round the other sections of the garden following no particular route – it’s best to find your own way along the numerous tempting paths

We had a wonderful time here despite the indifferent weather and look forward to our next visit
