I parked at Thirlspot and ascended Helvellyn via Browncove Crags. When I reached the crags it was on with the spikes as there was plenty of snow around
It was absolutely freezing on the top of Helvellyn – the windchill made it about -20C, and every layer of clothing was needed. I was the only one up there and it was good to have the summit to myself. I then went on to White Side and Raise and descended via Sticks Pass
