Route: A short walk to Crummock Water
Area: Western Lake District
Date of walk: 21st January 2016
Walkers: Andrew and Gilly
Distance: 2.0 miles
Ascent: 200 feet
Weather: overcast, very cold wind
There was only time for a short local walk today, so we decided to revisit Crummock Water in the west of the district. We parked by aptly named Park Bridge, though there is only space for 1 car here and anyone following this walk may need to find another spot – possibly Church Bridge near the Kirkstile Inn
We walked through Lowpark and joined the elevated path which runs round the shoulder of Mellbreak, giving wonderful views along Crummock Water towards Haystacks and Great Gable
We then descended to the lake and followed the shoreline path as far as the Pump House, at which point we headed inland towards Muncaster House. Just before the house we turned left along the quiet lane which took us back to the start
A lovely short walk despite the cold and rather indifferent weather
