Hi Andrew
Your Yew Crag walk took my right back to my Bolton wakes week holidays in the Lake District when I was a little girl with my family and dad would always take up Barrow and mum would take us mushroom foraging using her Scandinavian foraging knowledge and skills.
Your photos even evoked all the smells of the fells in early autumn.
Marvellous.
Thank You

Hi Andrew, hope you are both well. The pictures you posted of your walking holiday on the Isle of Barra in September were just stunning. You were so lucky with the weather, every day was good.
All the Best, John.

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful photographs and walk descriptions. Both are indeed inspirational and uplifting and shows just how varied the landscapes are in the UK, let alone overseas. Your website is a joy!

We undertook your Rabacal Valley walk last week via the Levada. It was magical. Trekking through a tropical forest without the need for a machete. Walking was straight forward other than the constant need to stop and take in the breath-taking views. We tackled the tunnel, which when you emerged opened up into a high gorge with waterfall over it. A fabulous warm afternoons walk. Whilst in Maderia we also followed the PR 3.1 from Monte to Pico Alto which was part pilgrimage and part gentle mountain scramble. Again, beautiful views with peace and tranquillity. Whilst visiting the Cabo Girao the Sky walk over the 580m cliff we accidently found the Levada do Norte which follows the southern coast for a while, other than locals taking short cuts this was deserted with beautiful sea and village views. Finally, we got the bus from Funchal to the Nuns Valley, Curral das Freiras. This place is like a small-scale Yosemite, jaw droppingly beautiful. What an Island.

Hi Andrew
Iโ€™ve really enjoyed your Barra excursion and there is nothing better than an Outer Hebridean sunset reflecting back at you.
Can you still buy a curry on Barra?
Kind Regards
Paulina

What a place to be on a day like this ๐Ÿ˜ž. Your photos have brought back great memories from Barra Feb 2015. I only found your site this week when searching walks for Madeira for Jo and I, but have since found multiple walks and photos that again bring back fabulous memories of our first love, the Lake District

Hi Andrew, this is an absolutely glorious site which I am sure will provide inspiration for walking holidays in the future - sometimes I feel like I don't know where to start. Here's hoping you stay fit and healthy and get to add more amazing content to this site for many more years.

We very much enjoy your walk descriptions and images. They've been an excellent source of inspiration and advice for some years. Recently we enjoyed the same walking holiday in the Bernese Oberland that you did, Andrew, in 2019. Your notes gave us some very helpful tips. We were sorry (?!) to read the weather wasn't good enough for you to walk to Adelboden via the Bunderchrinde Pass - we were pleased (maybe satisfied is a better word!) that we did it though won't be doing it again any time soon!

We have followed your wonderful walks over the last few years and have enjoyed every one. Spent four days in South Shropshire last week and were greatly missing your input! Can we suggest you walk this wonderful unspoilt area, a real hidden gem! Recommend Castle Hotel Bishops Castle.

I stumbled upon your website while preparing for a vacation in the Lake District. It was a wonderful source of inspiration, I followed some of your routes and used pieces of others for planning my own walks. The links to your routes on OutdoorActive where hugely helpful with that. Thank you for your dedication and all your beautiful pictures - they made me so excited for my trip and now serve as a great reminder of my week in the Lake District.

Thank you for the lovely pictures and description of the walk (Goathland to Grosmont Rail Trail), I enjoyed everything about it.
I'm saving your link so I can enjoy more walks.

Your pictures evoked the memory of Robert Brownings poem "Oh to be in England now that April's there" which Geoffrey Palmer recites on the YouTube clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DgAz7ksiJM (among many other versions).
Thanks you again for your delightful images.

What a wonderful website. Iโ€™ve really enjoyed looking through all your photos. Stumbled across it as I researched walks in Mallorca but kept scrolling through to look at all your other walks in the UK! Really fabulous.

I love reading about your walks and especially looking at your amazing photos.
I followed your route up Skiddaw via Ullock Pike, last Saturday - I had originally planned to do this from Latrigg until I saw your pics - being able to see Skiddaw for the whole route was great - and by the time we climbed it, the cloud had disappeared. We had wonderful views. I always look out for your blogs when planning a walk - thank you .๐Ÿ˜Ž

Hi Andrew, lovely pics of your walk up Birks and Arnison Crag. You pick some great days for the weather to go walking. Your holiday on Islay and pics were stunning, you were lucky with the weather.

Thank you so much for the photographic record of these wonderful walks. Such a vivid reminder of happy fell walking days before age and the pandemic intervened. Your photographs and videos are inspiring and bring such delight. An absolute blessing. ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜
