Hi Andrew. Iโ€™d just like to thank you for your websiteโ€™s role in our wonderful week in the western Lakes last week. Much as I love reading Wainwrightโ€™s guides, your route descriptions complement them brilliantly. So, for example, when tackling the High Stile range, it was handy to know about the steep section below the summit of Red Pike (we had the red hands to confirm!), and to be ready for the โ€œknee-jarring descent down Gamlin Endโ€. I now appreciate your caption under the photo of the Grasmoor signpost at Cinderdale Common (โ€œโ€ฆ the distance indicated is the longest 1.5 miles Iโ€™ve ever walkedโ€)! And on the Saturday we took your advice that when the hordes head for Buttermere, Lorton Vale is never the wrong choice: starting near the foot of Brackenthwaite Hows, the first other human we saw was the man in the Lorton village shop. Bliss.
