Arthur's Pike

Arthur’s Pike

Far Eastern Lake District

Route: Arthur’s Pike

Area: Far Eastern Lake District

Date of walk: 7th June 2013

Walkers: Andrew and Gilly

Distance: 6 miles

Ascent: 900 feet

We parked the car at Roehead, just outside Pooley Bridge. As soon ast we stepped out the the car we were greeted with a lovely view of Ullswater

There followed a long gentle ascent up Barton Hill. We stayed on a path which gave us views of the lake for most of the way

Having reached the summit of Arthur’s Pike, we returned in the same general direction along easy paths, allowing us to make quick progress back to the start point

It was a fantastic walk – there was sun and blue skies throughout, the skylarks were singing away for all they were worth, and we enjoyed wonderful views of Ullswater for along most of the route
