Seat Sandal

Seat Sandal

Eastern Lake District

Route: Seat Sandal

Area: Eastern Lake District

Date of walk: 26th July 2013

Walkers: Andrew and Gilly

Distance: 5.4 miles

Ascent: 1,900 feet

We parked in a layby on the A591, near Mill Bridge, and climbed up the path along Tongue Gill. The gradient was easy and we had no trouble making it to Grisedale Hause. After admiring the Tarn for a few moments we girded our loins and set off up the final very steep scree slope to the top of Seat Sandal

The views from the summit were wonderful, especially to the west, and we had a good view of Tarn Crag, which we’d climbed yesterday

We then descended via the south ridge, which is set at a perfect gradient and which has the additional benefit of lovely views ahead all the way down

We both agreed that this had been a five star walk, a joy every step of the way
