Hole of Horcum

Hole of Horcum

North York Moors

Route: Hole of Horcum

Area: North York Moors

Date of walk: 4th April 2013

Walkers: Andrew

Distance: 6.5 miles

Ascent: 1,000 feet

I parked near the Horseshoe Inn in the quiet and unspoilt village of Levisham. Shortly after leaving the village, I joined a path which runs at high level along Levisham Brow

The path then descends to Levisham Beck and shortly after crossing this I reached the valley known as Horcum Slack

The Hole of Horcum lay straight ahead, and after reaching its foot I climbed up steeply onto the top of the ridge

The next two miles of the walk were entirely different in character, being across Levisham Moor. After crossing the open moorland I joined Limpsey Gate Lane which brought me back to the Horseshoe Inn

This was a great walk in beautiful weather and I enjoyed every minute of it
