Kirkstile Inn

Western Lake District

Route: Kirkstile Inn

Area: Western Lake District

Date of walk: 5th April 2015

Walkers: Andrew Tom and David

Distance: 4.3 miles

Weather: Sun and blue skies

Today’s outing had all the ingredients of a perfect walk – weather, destination, walking companions, scenery – you couldn’t ask for more

I set off from home with nephews Tom and David and we walked along the lane towards Miller Place, turning off just before the farm to join the wonderful mid level path which runs along the eastern side of Lorton Vale. The views are wonderful every step of the way

When we reached Lanthwaite Green we crossed the Buttermere road and walked down through Lanthwaite Wood to the shore of Crummock Water. We then rounded the lake as far as the Pump House, at which point we headed inland and walked across the fields and quiet country lanes to our destination – the famous Kirkstile Inn

Thanks to some good planning, Mrs Andrewswalks was there to meet us and after enjoying some ‘refreshments’ we paid our taxi fare (half a pint of Loweswater Gold, what a bargain) and were driven back home

I’ve not included a maps page as this is a walk started from home, but the map link does show the location of the Kirkstile Inn
