Lorton Vale

Kirkstile Inn

Western Lake District

Route: Kirkstile Inn

Area: Western Lake District

Date of walk: 31st December 2014

Walkers: Andrew David and Rob

Distance: 4.3 miles

Ascent: 700 feet

Weather: Overcast, with rain later on

We set off from home and joined the lovely path which runs along the length of Lorton Vale. After arriving at Lanthwaite Green we headed towards Crummock Water

The weather had been poor but when we reached the foot of the lake, conditions worsened and steady rain set in as a result of which I had to put the camera away for the rest of the walk

At the pump house we walked across the fields and crossed Park Bridge, then made our way along a quiet lane to our destination – the famous Kirkstile Inn

It was a great walk through beautiful countryside, but a shame that the weather wasn’t on our side today
