Haystacks

Haystacks

Route:  Haystacks

Area: Western Lake District

Date of walk: 1st March 2013

Walkers: Andrew

Distance: 6.0 miles

Ascent: 1,800 feet

Another sunny day!  I parked at Gatesgarth Farm and climbed up to Scarth Gap. I then clambered up to the top of Haystacks (1,900 feet).  Bonnie came with me and did well to scramble up the steeper sections, which involved some hand work from me and some paw work from Bonnie. The views of Pillar were superb.

I then went across the complicated and fascinating top of the fell, and came down via the west flank of Fleetwith Pike.  Innominate Tarn was a highlight of this walk.

The conditions were wonderful, making this a hat trick of memorable walks in the last three days
