Goathland

Goathland

North York Moors

Route: Goathland

Area: North York Moors

Date of walk: 6th May 2013

Walkers: Andrew and Gilly

Distance: 8.5 miles

Ascent: 1,100 feet

We parked in the middle of Goathland and left the village via the Rail Trail in the direction of Beck Hole. At Beck Hole we turned towards Mallyan Spout, the well known waterfall which cascades into West Beck

After visiting the waterfall we carried on along the valley following the course of the beck – this involved a lot of clambering over rocks and treading carefully along narrow paths with steep drops

The path emerged onto open farmland and we then climbed up onto the moor known as Two Howes Rigg and made our way back to Goathland

It was a great walk and we were blessed with sun and blue skies all the way
